New light…

March 31, 2009

…shining through our backyard, across the overgrown weeds, winding around the climbing tree,  into our sunroom and filling our hearts…I love it here. It’s not big or presumptuous, it’s not grand or amazing, it’s not even our forever house, but for now, it is perfect.

The backyard fits the kids well, they require daily baths now from getting so dirty all day, but at the end of the day they are tired and love to talk about their adventures.

We have a lot more to do to make it “ours”, but for now, we’re having fun. I’m almost done unpacking boxes, so hopefully soon picking up the camera will happen more often and I can get back into blogging here!

Week 40/52 (ok…this was from last week. I do have the week before last’s ready, Week 39…but I’ll show that one later. And if you’re confused, you’re seeing a reflection in the big sliding glass door that leads from the master bedroom to the backyard.)

Big big big changes are about to happen in the Schuff house…we’re packing it up…and moving into another one! The deal finally went through on a house we’ve been waiting for for months. Here it is, we’re at the moment that we’ve dreamed of for years. It has never been the right time until now, we’ve traveled around and lived in so many places. But we are finally able to put down roots…and put holes in the walls if we want to.   So I’m going to sign out here for awhile.  There’s much to do to get ready, cleaning, packing, painting, etc. Next time I blog it will be from somewhere in the new house, until then…

Week 38/52

(thanks to my awesome husband!)

I’ve tried to teach all my children baby signs. It helps with communication so much! All my kids could sign before they could speak…and usually they signed in Spanish (that sounds odd, but its true when you think about it!) We say the word in Spanish and she signs it, she understands English of course but her vocab doesn’t extend farther than “mamamamamama” (yes, mama that many times!) I’m pretty sure it is directed at me…and food…and her blankie…and Daddy…and her sister…hmmmmm.

Here’s her pretty little face and her pretty little hands making the “mas” sign (more) for the applesauce I was feeding her. She claps her little hands so strongly, and then waves them like a bird to motion “all done” . I’ve got to video it, in this case video would probably help to tell the story a bit more than photos…but I thought I would try!

Week 37 of 52 (last week!)

I’ve been looking at pictures from last year, getting some ready to print for the kids’ rooms. I sure don’t have many of all three together, but here’s one that I don’t think I shared. I love the look on Lily’s face!
