I have had a blast photographing my kids for the month of February, 28 days straight. Picking up my camera every single day has taught me so much about my style, my kids, what I want in a photo, and “seeing” the photo before I take it.
I learned that I love my old camera that I thought I hated, (you know, the one that I “upgrade” from?) Most, if not all of these photos were taken with my discontinued 6 megapixel camera. I don’t use the best equipment out there, not even close, but I sure do focus all my attention on rocking what I have! It really doesn’t matter what kind of camera you use, if you don’t know how to use it, then your photos will not turn out like you imagine.
I learned that I love color! I loved this black & white challenge, and I feel I have close to perfected my black & white workflow, but boy do I need some color on my blog! I’m sure in the coming days you will see a color explosion from me!!
I learned that I love to blog. Just love it. This isn’t just a place for me to drop my photos and run, I love to hang out here and read your comments. I encourage you to subscribe to my blog’s feed, click the little “RSS” button at the top of the blog or the “subscribe” link on the header. There are many different ways to subscribe to make it convenient for you. I know I don’t have time to surf blogs all day, so I get all my favorite ones straight to my email inbox.
If you are a lurker here, please comment on this post! I would love to see who has been following me through this fun journey! Don’t be shy…commenting is fun and it keeps us bloggers happy and inspired :)
Ok…enough talking…here’s my last photo of the month.
Day 28/28: No grand plans for today’s photo. This is exactly how I wanted it to look. I love taking these outstretched arms photos, I took quite a few when I did my 52 weeks of self photos last year! I wanted my last photo to be very unposed, nothing fancy, just us. We are all in our pajamas, just up from a Sunday afternoon nap (yes, even me!) Zach is of course doing his thing, Abby is ever trying to get her whole body in the photograph, and Lily…well…Princess Liliana is just fed up with the whole process and has no intention of hiding it.

{Come back tomorrow to see my favorite outtakes from the month!! Photographing three children every day makes for some interesting and very unposed photos!}
Much love to the ladies who participated in this challenge with me!

Hi Amy – Thanks for your invitation to post a comment. I have a tendency to lurk. Sometimes, I just don’t feel I have anything worthwhile to say. I do think that you’re a fantastic photographer. I love how candid your children are in front of the camera and think that’s indicative of your wonderful relationship with them. I’m enjoying flipping through your personal blog posts. I have 2 boys myself and have been trying to get to know my Nikon D70 … yeah, it’s about 5 or 6 years old and it’s the fanciest camera I’ve got. I have a ways to go yet. Thanks for the inspiration.
I’m a lurker. I love your photos and really enjoy your blogs. My kids are 7, 4 and 16 months so I can definitely relate! Being a mom is really the best. It is challenging but by far the best (and most important!) job I have ever had. That sentiment really comes through in your photos and, if I can achieve that alone (in mine) I will be happy!
I LOVED looking at your 52 week & now your 28 photo a day. They are beautiful, touching, and downright funny (Loved the Abby with the tear & the tongue thing). It was adorable – she is so precious.
Don’t stop sharing, encouraging and challenging us blog readers to step up with you!!!!
Barbie – I’m so excited for you! Having a baby will bring you so much joy you didn’t know was there :)
Emily & Trish – Thank you for commenting! I very much appreciate it.
Okay, so I admit it. I’m a complete stranger and I’ve been a “lurker” on your site for about a month and a half and I don’t think that I’ve ever left a comment. I first found a link to your site for the 52 week self portrait challenge and fell in love with your photography. Thank you for sharing your talent, your love for your children and your love for God through your blog. God bless!
I’ve been a lurker for awhile now. You inspire me to take pics of my kidlets but they are all at the age where they run from the camera. (especially the 17 & 16 yo’s) I’ve know the Schuff family since the boys were in nursery at church. (Vasquez family) thanks for inspiring me Amy, now if I can get your kidlets to encourage mine!
Amy…you’re just amazing! Love you!!!
Love it! I wanted to do a fun silly picture for my last day to kind of go out with a bang! But, what this project really taught me was to just let things happen. You know me… I panic about the silliest things. This was our own individual project, our own rules.. so why oh why was I stressing? LOL I’m so grateful to have done this project along side of you. I think we all walk away with similar, yet different experiences. For me, letting go was a great great lesson to learn. I now have 28 pictures that mean the world to me. How cool is that right?
You did a marvelous job Amy. I always look forward to seeing your new posts. Keep ‘em rolling love! What are we going to do next? Huh? Huh? lol
