About Amy

Hi! I'm Amy! Right off the bat...the most important things in life to me are my family (my handsome husband and three beautiful children), my Jesus and capturing our life in pictures.

I feel that photos are to be shared, they exist to evoke feelings and help friends and family bond even worlds apart. I love meeting new families, taking their pictures and being able to be apart of their memories for just a moment.

I strive to bring every part of me to a session, I'm loud but introverted, I'm fun but serious. I will hug you when I meet you and treat you like part of my family. A session with me is just simply about one thing and one thing only...YOU.

Please feel free to contact me using the Contact link above to inquire about a child or family photo session in the Sacramento, California area. I'm looking forward to it.

Those Baby Blues…
♥ Sacramento baby photographer

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

He is 6 months old today.  I saw him hold his own bottle the other day and I almost started to cry! He’s not my baby…but he kinda is :) Sister and I have started to take bets on how many errands we can run together until the kids start cracking up…today we only managed 3. But we figure if we don’t go out, then we will never see each other and we would never spend any money! Oh wait…maybe saving some money wouldn’t be so bad! This little boy doesn’t give us much trouble yet, of course it is my two who hate going to the bank (me too kids). I know many, many moms run errands with many, many more kids than I have, but in looking to the future, between Kendra and I we might need to get a 15 passenger van just to be able to go to Target!

Isn’t he lovely???

Shannon + Jeff = Harper
Sacramento newborn and birth photographer

Friday, November 13th, 2009

My heart feels so full when I think of this family. I was graciously allowed to photograph Harper’s birth, and then I got to come back and meet her (in the daylight!) and take photos of her, just 12 days old. I have lots to say about her, and lots to share, but right now I am very overdue in showing her parent’s a sneak peek of our time together.

(Your gallery is almost ready! Thanks for being patient with me!)

He’s changed so much!! I finally got some real one on one time with my sister’s (my!) boy. I loved having a baby in the house again…but I really can’t wait until he gets a little older, toddles around my house and calls me Auntie. His smiles are awesome, his Mama is doing a great job with him so far.

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I’ll be off to photograph her newborn photos. I’m very excited. Seeing her come into this world was an amazing experience for me and I am so honored that her parents allowed me to be there, to capture one of the most important, of not the most important day of their lives. I’ll be back to post more of her beautiful entrance into this world…for now, I get to go hold and love on a 12 day old…deliverylongshore04

birth-photography

After I walked away from documenting my sister’s labor, I realized…I love photography…and I love love love capturing priceless moments for couples. Being able to take photos for her was an honor…and it sparked something in me.

Hers was the first birth I had ever photographed, and actually, I didn’t even photograph the actual delivery, just before and after. It was enough though to really stir a passion in me for birth photography. So I am endeavoring to build my portfolio and introduce births into Amy Schuff Photography.

I know photographing your child’s birth might seem like a very odd thought, it is not often done. Lily’s birth was photographed by a professional and I absolutely cherish those photos. For our first two, Jeremy and I just snapped some pictures right after they were born. I wish I had photos of the whole process, of the emotions we felt, of family as they waited and of the moment I saw my babies for the first time.

In order to gain experience and build my portfolio, I am offering my services to 2 (two) women. This will be my gift to you –

In addition to no sitting fee, I will gift you all of your digital negatives on CD, complimentary, a priceless gift that you will be able to cherish and share with your new little member of the family. You will have complete printing rights to those images.
~20% off all my a la carte items. You have your images on cd, so you may print them wherever you want, but if you desire to purchase anything a la carte, (gallery wrap, birth announcements or an album) you may do so at 20% off.

Honestly, I don’t know how many photos I will take! This is the process of building my portfolio. It all depends on how your labor goes and the setting we are in. Be prepared though to allow me to capture as many precious moments as I can, allowing you and your loved ones to focus on your labor and your newborn. You don’t have to worry about someone “grabbing the camera” in time for the big moment…just let me do that.

What I ask in return:

~Permission to photograph your labor, delivery and a couple hours of recovery time. It doesn’t matter if you will be delivering at a hospital or at home. If you’re having a scheduled c-section, let me know and we’ll work out the details. I’ll allow one of the 2 births to be a c-section.
~Signed model release from you.
~You must be delivering within 30 miles of the Natomas, Sacramento area (95833 zip code, or be willing to pay all travel costs if delivering out side of the 30 mile radius.)

If you are interested in allowing me to capture your birth experience, please contact me at 916.420.8889 or amy@amyschuffphotography.com

She did it…

…I knew she could. And HE did it…he was her rock…a true team. I’m so proud of them. I loved them before…but now my love for them overflows…they gave us a gift. My beautiful sister and wonderful brother in law who I just want to call my brother…have given us a ray of sunshine…a sweet, innocent, bundle of sun.

She’s going to kill me for putting this photo in. I know, I was soooo sensitive during her labor (haha). But I call this photo “BFF’s” ♥

Weeks 43 & 44

…just catching up!

Week 43/52…at the library. We go quite often, I love it. The smell, the mounds of books, how quiet it is. I was certain I was the only one who still checked out books…but then I asked on facebook and people came out in droves. The library totally rocks! We got a lot too since we homeschool. Anyone else out there homeschool? This is the first year for us, just Kindergarten. Certainly more than I bargained for, but I’m having fun!

Her tear
sacramento baby photographer

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

She has this one weepy eye.  It carries a tear most the day that never falls. It’s not serious and it doesn’t bother her. I totally adore it. Her little lashes wet and eye glossy. Sometimes I look in her little eye and it makes me wonder what she is thinking. Those eyes can tell a story. What makes her happy? What troubles her?  Is she thinking of how much she loves her blankie? Is she sad she got goldfish for her snack and not animal crackers? Does her pacifier taste yucky? Did she enjoy that hug? So many thoughts running through her head, and I know none of them. I can’t wait to sit down and talk with her like I do with Abby. If she’s anything like her sister I will be lucky if I can get a word in, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ll sit and listen…as long as she wants to…fine by me.
