About Amy

Hi! I'm Amy! Right off the bat...the most important things in life to me are my family (my handsome husband and three beautiful children), my Jesus and capturing our life in pictures.

I feel that photos are to be shared, they exist to evoke feelings and help friends and family bond even worlds apart. I love meeting new families, taking their pictures and being able to be apart of their memories for just a moment.

I strive to bring every part of me to a session, I'm loud but introverted, I'm fun but serious. I will hug you when I meet you and treat you like part of my family. A session with me is just simply about one thing and one thing only...YOU.

Please feel free to contact me using the Contact link above to inquire about a child or family photo session in the Sacramento, California area. I'm looking forward to it.

last shots…

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

I was working on a project for the blog with Abby the other day and just as I was about to put my camera away, she hit me with this laugh. Can’t you hear it? I can still hear it. Music to my ears.

Hiding out…

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Our family caught the horrible flu bug that has been going around…just in time to get over it and then catch the cold bug. Our days have been full of blankies, naps wherever we fall asleep, movies and comfort food (if anyone can keep the food down! yuck!) I’m horribly behind on every single thing right now (emails, laundry, editing, you name it!)

Pray that we make it out of January in one piece!

(She’s still so sweet when she’s sick though!…)

Discovery…

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

…usually she is content to do what her older siblings are doing…following in their footsteps…following them around, literally. But this past week she discovered that she can draw. Stick figures. Faces. Mommies and Daddies. Circles with circles in them and lines that in her eyes say words and describe real life. There’s pen marks on the chair, on the kitchen table, on the coffee table and on her little hands…I don’t mind. I’ll always remember this week as the one we all got horribly sick with the stomach flu…and when Lily made her discovery.

Our Christmas

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

Our Christmas morning was simply perfect. We celebrated Jesus and who He is to us. We opened gifts, not too many, just the right amount. We ate our traditional cinnamon roll breakfast and then bacon for snack. There were tears of joy and lots of hugs and “thank you’s”. As each year goes by our family gets a little bit older, and Christmas becomes more and more relaxing.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Merry “Kiss”-mas…

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

All cheeky-ness aside…I know exactly what Christmas means to me. Yes, it is about family, giving, laughter, love, hugs, kisses and joy. But the REAL reason is to celebrate and thank my dear Lord Jesus for coming down to earth as a baby, for living on earth, sinless and perfect, for dying on the cross for my sins and raising up from the dead. Christmas is about celebrating the living God that I serve!! Oh wow…gives me goosebumps :)

I pray you have a wonderful Christmas holiday.

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:11-14

simple beauty…

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

…that’s it…she just is simply beautiful. She’s going through a very intense independent stage, the last photo for example…I took let her hair down and that was not acceptable to her :)

doing hair…

Friday, November 4th, 2011

This morning I turned the corner and found Abby doing Lily’s hair. This was the first time Lily has allowed her big sister to do her hair, and also the first time Abby has been skilled enough to put her sister’s insanely long locks in a ponytail, complete with ribbon. *sigh* I hope this is the first of many.

November 1st…

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Every day that goes by and I don’t sit down to blog I think…oh what’s another day? On my computer I don’t even have an “October 2011″ folder for all my photos to go that I take in a month…why? Because in the few times I’ve taken photos this month I think they are still on my memory cards in my camera. Sad. The thing is, even the best photographers go through times like this, of not wanting to pick up the camera, of feeling like it is more work than fun. I can’t stand it when I go through that…it’s so not how I usually feel.

I can’t believe it is already November 1st. A whole month went by in a blink. This month is going to be one of the busiest of the year, as far as photography goes. I am really hoping I take time out to explore the ideas I have for personal photos. I don’t want to miss even one month of my kids’ growing up on camera.

This shoot happened last month, I took the girls out for just a few minutes at sunset. For just a small moment of effort and work I now have photos I’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Tonight, it was oreo cookies…

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

We were driving home from going out to dinner, just the three of us, Daddy, Lily and Mommy. The big kids were away and we always count any time alone with Lily as precious. The light shone through the car windows and I immediately wished I had my camera with me. I’m not in that habit anymore, of taking my camera with me everywhere. I need to get back into it.

We got home, I rushed to find something cute and whimsy for Lily to wear…no luck. We went outside and the light was gone. I had promised her an oreo cookie and couldn’t go back on my word, we spent 5 minutes in the front lawn, watching the darkness settle.

I’m satisfied…but tomorrow night I think we’ll try again…I still have some oreo cookies left :)

ps. These images were processed with Amanda Keeys photoshop actions, “Bliss” and “Soft Blue” from her Journey set. I use Amanda’s actions 99.99% of the time. Come back to the blog on MONDAY for a super fun announcement!!
