Our house has been crazy the past week/10 days or so. Husband is going out of town for two weeks, starting on Saturday (more on that later). He’s been busy getting ready to go, the kids are as high energy as normal, and we even had time to have my sister’s 80’s themed birthday party over here at the house (maybe I’ll share more on that…yes…I think I will…the photos are way too fun!)

Also I feel so blessed to have upgraded my computer this week. Yes folks…I am now a Mac :) This will allow me to take my photography into places that it never could have gone with my precious little computer that started to smell like fire. I may post a tribute to my new Mac…of course I took photos of it as I opened it out of the box!!

Anyway, I have gotten behind in my photos and wanted to put a couple more up on the blog of this precious little newborn. I know her parents are dying to see the rest of them! Soon!

Isn’t she just so peaceful? Not a care in the world.

I only have the privilege of raising one boy. He is though, gearing up to be a very boy’s boy, man’s man, whatever you want to call it, he is all boy…all the time. I know it was God’s plan for me to only have one boy. Even though I’ve only got Zach, I truly don’t think he will be my only “son”. I photographed a beautiful family right before the holiday, this amazing Mom was surrounded by sons. These boys were pleasant, polite, funny, silly, innocently inappropriate at times, and made me laugh so stinking hard the entire time. Their family was fun. The whole thing just looked like a lot of fun. Isn’t that what having kids is about? Raising these little people and having a joyful time doing it? And when they grow to be young adults, you get to have adult conversations and talk about life and have these amazing friends who you’ve raised to go down the right path. They will bring home their friends and no one will ask but you will fall into the mom role to those who you did not raise. I think that is my future…to be a mom to many…at least I hope so.

My heart feels so full when I think of this family. I was graciously allowed to photograph Harper’s birth, and then I got to come back and meet her (in the daylight!) and take photos of her, just 12 days old. I have lots to say about her, and lots to share, but right now I am very overdue in showing her parent’s a sneak peek of our time together.

(Your gallery is almost ready! Thanks for being patient with me!)

My cousin is getting married…and to a great guy no less. I got to spend the afternoon with them, taking their pictures, watching them talk, witnessing two people in the very new beginnings of love. There truly isn’t anything better is there?

What a beautiful bride she will be! They are getting married in June at the Loomis Flower Farm and so we went over there to get some shots. What a lovely place! I could spend hours there. From there we went to our Great-Aunt & Uncle’s amazing home. Thank you so much Aunt Leota & Uncle Charles for allowing us to have our session on your grounds! I hadn’t been there for years and It was even more beautiful than I remembered.

Here’s a sneak peek of our afternoon together…

Soon…

August 22, 2009

…things will be a lot different at my sister’s house. Anyone who walks into their house can see things have already started to change, the decor is rightfully turning from contemporary chic to baby items galore. The spare bedroom in their house has meaning now, painted the perfect shade of blue, blankets and stuffed animals picked out for him, a crib waiting to be slept in, a chair waiting to rock him.

I don’t think my sister has left one stone unturned, one thing left on her list not checked off…or will be checked off very soon. She’s ready, waiting, expecting and also I can see not trying to form expectations. Yes…things are going to change. My sis with her beautiful hair and flawless face, will still be beautiful and flawless, but she’ll carry herself differently…a little more tired, a little more frazzled, maybe a little more flawed and a lot more beautiful.  My very cool brother in law will still be cool, but in the “I carry a diaper bag and I’m proud of it” kind of cool. Gaming will be done with a baby on his lap, he’ll learn to make lunch one handed.

No one can truly tell them what is going to happen. Believe me, I’ve tried! They know all the stories, all the advice, they’ve gone to classes and read books, sis and I have talked for hours and hours, but all of that won’t replace what is going to happen the day he is born. Labor…she’ll finally have her story to share. The first time they walk through their front door, a family….did they really let us take him home?? and what do we do with him now?? That first night…and the sacrifices that will follow that don’t really feel like sacrifices, just natural acts of love.

We get the privilege, those of us who surround them, to witness a beautiful transformation. One guy…one girl…who love with an everlasting love…transform into parents, a family. Life won’t ever be the same, in a wonderful, amazing way.

Love you guys…can’t wait for Ethan to arrive…more photos to come later.

Born on Christmas, this sweet little 2 week old baby boy was such a dream. He was so tiny and curly! I truly enjoy newborn photography. It takes an extreme amount of patience and also a willingness to sweat a bit! (as we crank up the heat in the house for the baby in the buff!!) I had such a wonderful time, what a great session to start off 2009.

I will have many more photos to share from this session, but I wanted to share this one real quick.

All snugly in his cocoon.

My very good friend from Canada came to visit back in September. I’m finally getting around to finishing the photos that I took while she was here. I was so glad to see her & her husband, and meet their son for the first time! Liliana is just two days younger than little Nate. It’s been a great experience going through all these baby stages at the same time with Kim, even though we’re miles and miles apart.

Love you friend! And I love your family!

They’re just chillen’…munching on corn and peas. :)

I can’t resist the look on his face here!

We got a visit from some great friends of ours this week. Their daughter is Zach’s age. I couldn’t wait to take some pictures of her, she’s such a beauty, inside & out.

Take those family photos!!! :)

I just love when clients contact me for family photos, or when I get an impromptu session with friends or my own extended family. I truly put great value in photographing those who we call “family”. It convicts me though! I really need to get to taking some pics of my little family of 5. You would never think that I love taking pictures if you saw my walls…they’re bare!! Nope, that is not good at all!

Here is a special family, they’re a young couple with their 4 month old baby boy. This little one was just absolutely adorable! His eyes were so dark he had no pupils! Those eyes were very inspiring….
